Mar 23, 2022 8:30am ‐ Mar 23, 2022 9:30am

Could a new marketplace facilitator law change the tax treatment of your dog walker or pizza delivery? There are many proposed and recently enacted marketplace facilitator laws in states across the country. These laws are generally intended to create sales tax collection and reporting obligations for online marketplaces that enable remote sales. However, marketplace laws are often so broadly written as to potentially impact many apps and digital startups offering local services. This session provides an overview of potentially impacted services and useful strategies for navigating this new legal landscape.

  • Learn which state and local taxes must be collected by a marketplace.
  • Understand the definitional scope of marketplace and how it might apply.
  • Become aware of emerging audit and interpretation issues.
